The FG-4105KG supports up to 96 MPEG1-to-AC3 audio transcodes in a 2U Appliance.
SLINGER,WI (PRWEB) AUGUST 14, 2015
Since announcing the availability of the FG-4105KG audio transcoder almost two years ago, VideoPropulsion® (OTC:VPTV) reports that sales have tripled in 2015 compared to last year. The FG-4105KG is a unique solution that helps preserve investment in HDTV’s that do not support MPEG1 audio. Earlier this year, VideoPropulsion doubled the number of audio transcodes from 48 up to 96 programs. The low cost audio transcoding feature is also available on the VideoPropulsion FG-4800 family of EdgeQAMs as well as FG-5400 series of Hailstorm™ transcoders.
DirecTV® SD content is broadcast with the audio encoded in MPEG1 Layer II (a.k.a. MPEG2 audio). Many hospitality as well as residential TVs have or are dropping this as a supported codec in favor of AC3, which is what the US government has now mandated for all imported TVs. Native SD content played on such television sets displays without audio. Translating the MPEG1 to AC3 in the hotel head-end corrects this problem.
"Early adopters of our FG-4105KG MPEG1-to-AC3 audio transcoder were very pleased with the performance and stability of the product, and asked us to support more than 48 streams in a single unit,” said Carl Pick, VideoPropulsion’s Chairman & CEO. "We are pleased to have been able to respond quickly to customer demands by pushing the performance up to 96 total audio transcodes in a single 2U appliance at a very low cost per stream."
The FloodGate FG-4105KG MPEG1-to-AC3 Audio Transcoder, FG-4800 series EdgeQAMs, and FG-5400 series Transcoder appliances are available directly from VideoPropulsion.
