VideoPropulsion Now Offering HLS Chunking & Embedded Web Server for Mobile Content Streaming on its Transcoders

VideoPropulsion® Streaming digital video content transcoded to reduced bit rates can now be chunked in HTTP Live Streaming (HLS) format and sent out with an integral web server for mobile consumption using VideoPropulsion's newest FloodGate® FG-6000 Transcoders. Client playback can be done on a wide range of industry standard web browsers.

An FG-6000 HLS streaming transcoder is configurable for inputs of MPEG2 or H.264 content, with from one to eight adaptive bit rates (ABR) for each input, up to a total of 280 outputs. As an example, 70 individual live input streams could each be transcoded to four different mobile bit rates for a total of 280 ABR outputs. The streaming content can be encrypted using a number of leading industry DRMs, including Verimatrix®, Pro:Idiom® Mobile, Conax®, and Widevine®.

Standard FG-6000 series transcoders are housed in a 3U, 17" (432mm) deep, 20lb (9kg) rackmount chassis with a 500W power supply. Systems can have separate Gigabit Ethernet ports for input, output, and control.

"The building blocks from our acclaimed transcoding solutions for hotels and CATV head-ends were straightforwardly evolved to the world of mobile streaming", said Joe Nordman, CTO of VideoPropulsion. "Our newest FG-6000 is a culmination of many years of research and development coupled with our unmatched experience in delivering robust appliances and solutions for transcrypting digital television content."
