Torrent Q16IP IPTV QAM Modulator
Ideal for edge QAM applications, the Torrent Q16IP moves your video streams from IP to 16 RF Annex B QAM channels in a 1RU footprint, providing space savings and performance at a competitive price.
The Q16IP 16 channel RF EdgeQAM is the newest member of the Company's TorrentTM family of high performance, low cost per stream DTV modulators. The VideoPropulsion Q16IP maps video transport streams from an IPTV source onto 16 QAM channels in four sets of 4 adjacent channels. Each 256QAM Annex B channel is capable of up to ten 3.8 Mbps SDTV, three 12.9 Mbps EDTV, two 19.4Mbps HDTV streams, or any other mix of streams that does not exceed the total 256QAM Annex B bitrate. Integral upconversion to RF output provides the ultimate in flexibility by eliminating the need for external upconverters and messy cabling. The completely self-contained Q16IP can be configured and maintained from a web browser.
Product Highlights - Benefits
- Sixteen RF QAM channels with 6 MHz bandwidth, sixteen channels with 8 MHz bandwidth
- Higher QAM density and lower cost per stream
- User selectable 16QAM, 32QAM, 64QAM, 128QAM, and 256QAM modes
- Adaptable to a wide range of applications
- Upconversion to 50 - 860 MHz RF output (also available without upconversion)
- Eliminates external upconverters and cabling
- Web-based management and configuration GUI
- Flexible, targeted configurations with minimal development
The Q16IP hardware collects MPEG-2 transport streams directly from an IPTV stream and multiplexes them into multiple program transport streams that are transmitted with upconversion using 16QAM, 32QAM, 64QAM, 128QAM, or 256QAM modulation with variable symbol rates up to 7 Msymbols/second. Forward Error Correcting (FEC) encoding complies with ITU-T J.83 Annex A (DVB/DAVIC/EuroDOCSIS/IEEE802.14), Annex B (DigiCipherII/SCTE/DOCSIS/IEEE802.14), and Annex C (Japan).
Options for the Q16IP include an additional 8 QAM channels, encryption of the output streams, and IF output.
