FG-422E
It is estimated that there is an installed base of nearly 1.5 million commercial hospitality televisions that are capable of decoding only MPEG-2 video. VideoPropulsion’s FloodGate model FG-422E, in addition to providing DISH HDTV services over coax, also transcodes MPEG-4 video content to MPEG-2, saving hospitality venues millions of dollars in television upgrades. Up to 8 premium HD channels per unit can be transcoded, and the ability to stack units for expandability makes it suitable for most hotel HD channel lineups.
The FloodGate FG-422E delivers content with Pro:Idiom encryption technology, a Hollywood accepted standard for protecting content in commercial environments including hotels, motels, timeshares, hospitals, assisted living residences and other bulk commercial locations. System installation is straightforward for DISH integrators and resellers. Each DISH ViP222 receiver outputs a single HD or two SD TV streams via an Ethernet port on the receiver. Those Ethernet streams are aggregated through a simple unmanaged Ethernet switch into an Ethernet port on the FloodGate.
The FloodGate Manager interface allows you to intuitively manage receiver status, upload a channel lineup, and start and stop service. FloodGates configure channels automatically on set-top boxes based on your channel lineup and then QAM modulate them over the existing coax cable infrastructure. DISH HD programming is transported using MPEG-4 transport streams which the FG-422E re-encodes in MPEG-2. The FloodGate configures up to 2 MPEG-2 channels per QAM channel, delivering Pro:Idiom protected content to MPEG-2 compatible commercial TV’s. Management tools are included to enable proactive remote service resolution, including automated failover to spare receivers in the case of failure.
